There are IHOPs outside of California. There are some in Canada and Mexico actually. So, it really is “international”
Loved, loved, loved this podcast, Adam. It was so unexpected, and I was PSCYHED that it went on for as long as it did.
I agree with the other supportive posters that it is so refreshing to know that someone in Hollywood has a handle on reality and is not afraid to speak his mind. It is absurd how little personal responsibility there is in this country these days and how everyone looks to the government to provide their necessities. You know how people should get their necessities? Get a JOB and WORK! Amazing concept. Donny was right on, also, when he said that welfare creates a vicious cycle because people become dependent on the system and then can’t become self-sufficient. And I was saying all during hte Obama campaign, who in their right mind is going to turn away free stuff? He promises everything to everyone and claims he won’t have to raise taxes. Well, guess what? Those things costs money. Just wait until the middle class get their tax increase. I’m gonna be pissed in the sense that I have to pay more, but I hope at least the one in my tax bracket who voted for Obama are even more pissed.
I thought the rant was a little over the top when it went on to talk about having a proportional # of votes for the amount you paid in tax. That’s…umm….a little excessive. But it was certainly a hyperbolic point and one that isn’t lost. It’s an interesting concept, that’s for sure.
Love the podcast in general. Loved Andy Dick too. I tend to be much more excited about the podcasts when it’s a guest who’s not trying to promote their new tv show or movie. I’ve come to expect that from Leno, Letterman, etc. Adam, you’re better than that.
I totally agree with everything you said in this show, and in other podcast shows about welfare, liberal guilt, etc!! Why didn’t you say any of this on the radio show? You were much more of a liberal kiss ass back then, at least on the radio, talking about how you were going to vote for Obama. I don’t get how you could vote for him since his platform and belief system goes against most of what you profess to believe in. It was like you had jumped on the Obama bandwagon along with everyone else in Hollywood. But what’s done is done. I hope you won’t make the same mistake in 2012. In the meantime, keep up the good work!! I’ve listened to every single podcast – love it!!
Good stuff Adam
This podcast, good lenses bad frames.
Anyone who liked this podcast and is cheering about all that weird-wing crap Adam was puking up is a bad person. That is a Professional Fact.
Adam says a lot that he pretends that no one is listening to him when he is on the air. To keep this strategy working I bet he doesn’t read the message boards.
Either way, how about we step back and accept his views as his OPINION. He won’t be elected into any political office, he won’t change anything. He is merely voicing his opinion on a few matters.
I’m sure you have heard it a thousand times that if you don’t like it then don’t listen. How about if you don’t like it just don’t listen to the political themed podcasts. It’s really a win win situation.
Just keep in mind that this is a person’s opinion and probably is very similar to someone you know.
Great podcast! I totally agree with almost everything he said (the tax rant was a joke to make a point) What you guys seem to miss, is that Adam’s life is the DEFINITION of the American dream. He started from nothing and busted his ass until he got where he wanted to be. Saying he’s uneducated is just laughable, who says you need a degree to be smart or be right. Adam took the hard road to get to where he’s at and that gives him a different perspective that you guys should try to appreciate before dismissing him. Besides you lefties are supposed to be the open-minded ones
Not true. He was supported by his parents, grandparents and the government (via food stamps) he loathes so much. While his parents (particularly his mother) struggled financially (I’ll take his word for it), his life was a vacation compared to his neighbors in Watts and East L.A. It’s a fucking joke to hear him compare North Hollywood to a ghetto. And it’s demeaning to people who truly did and do suffer as a result of poverty. And you fucking morons lap this shit up.
I love you Adam, you’re fucking hilarious. When you start spouting all your wacky right wing bullshit I almost can’t listen. I’m very liberal in general, and the funny thing is I agree with a lot of what you have to say. Personal responsibility and all that. But there’s so much crap that you throw out there likes it’s an indisputable fact when it’s so far from true that it’s just silly. Is this part of your comedy maybe?
The wealthiest tax payers DO have more votes then the rest of us already. They just buy up all the politicians, so our one vote doesn’t even matter anyway.
Torture is not proven to work, it’s just gets people to say whatever you want to hear, not what’s actually true – big difference. Ask an interrogation expert, not Dr Drew. The “enhanced techniques” used by the Bush administration came out of a “brain washing” program the Chinese used against American GI’s – not to get real information out of them, but to make them sign false confessions and condemn the US. And it was very effective at doing that.
Right wing-jobs are always talking about how there’s too much regulation, but the recent economical collapse, the health care crisis, the climate crisis and the out-of-control lawyers are all a direct result of inadequate regulation by the government. We can disagree about how much regulation is too much, but it’s very clear to anyone who looks at the facts that there hasn’t been enough in these areas and the results are obvious.
Just like it’s human nature to to be lazier if you get a welfare check for doing nothing. It’s human nature to get away whatever the fuck you can if you are getting a huge paycheck for it. And all these corporation that are getting huge welfare checks are causing much bigger problems these days!
Thanks for the great podcast!
Yeah… Adam, your podcast audience is maybe wider than you think, geographically and politically.
I listen because you’re an intelligent, funny, interesting old-school right wing warhorse, and yeah, it’s *painful* when you lapse into some middle America cartoon republican party line rant. You’re a thousand fucking percent smarter than that, man. Couldn’t be more jarring if you suddenly declared yourself Saved by Jesus.
I mean, “They hate us for our freedom”? Really? You’re actually oblivious to sixty years of ideological warfare to suppress all communism worldwide, no matter the cost in human lives? Warfare firmly anchored around your Israeli allies in the middle east? *Please* pick up a history book.
In contrast; One Tax Dollar, One Vote is a nice challenging idea. Might be worth a try – would it really be worse than the existing hustles? At least the famous 5% might actually *pay* some goddamn taxes under that system, and into the national coffers instead of the back pockets of federated corruption, inc.
Nice podcast. Hit the mark on many points. We’re becoming a nation of adults who are still looking for daddy to take care of us.
Totally agree with Al Gore’s post above. Anyhow, if the podcast continues in political direction I can’t listen anymore. I know where I can hear similar right wing rants anytime: Rush, Savage, Fox news etc. Instead I listen to Adam to hear his unique and usually brilliant brand of humor. Please Adam, don’t go into political commentary, unless you are hoping to get a job with Fox news.
Adam, I love the podcast and you make me laugh a lot, but man, put a can on the political rants would you?! I had to keep fast forwarding this one forever to get past it. Maybe he’s been “literally a millionaire” too long and lost touch with reality. Adam, you love to harken back to the days when you were hanging doors, and didnt even own a truck, and had to sleep in a garage, but imagine if you had to also support a kid or two during that time and some radio guy in Malibu was bitching about how he doesnt want to pay for your kid to get a corndog everyday and your a lazy piece of shit. “you get more nutrition from and apple and a chunk of cheese than from school lunches”, ok, fine then why cant we focus on schools serving apples and chunks of cheese and put some energy behind that instead of just excluding kids. I thought you learned a thing or two from Greg Fitzsimmons the last time he was on here. Take a listen to that episode, Adam goes on the same tirade, but instead of a Donny too stoned to challenge him on it, Fitzsimmons does a great job of putting him in his place.
And yeah, I know the podcast is free, thanks.
This was my least favorite podcast ever. I have loved listening to Adam for 14 years now, and this is the first time I’ve had to fast forward. This is a good example of why his best work is always with Dr. Drew, because, while Adam IS brilliant in many areas, he needs a smart guy like Drew to off counter-opinions or Adam just spirals out of control. Yeah, rich people should get more votes. Come on, Adam. You’re smarter than that. I agree with poster Birdy that Greg Fitzsimmons also does a good job of keeping Adam on track when he runs off the rails, politically.
Yeah, uh, this is probably my least favorite podcast since this all started. I feel like Adam needs some good statistics classes… Here, here on FItzimmons (Birdy’s comment).
I think the flight school instructors DID contact the FBI and they still didn’t do shit.
MTW
If Bill Gates vote was worth 95% of the vote, wouldn’t he just vote for your mom to pay more taxes?
Think about it Adam.
These policies would turn your government into a Dictatorship/Kingdom, and no longer a Democracy.
His opinions aren’t right wing you idiots….just logical.
what is logical about wealthy white person anger? explain some more about how unfair things are for rich people and corporations. it’s a bunch of bull and if you buy into it you are either rich yourself, or just plain dumb.
I love you Adam!!!!!!!
Didn’t like this podcast to much. There wasn’t real conversation: Donny just stated things that Adam has been ranting about for years (rightly so, I may add) so Adam could do his thing. It bored me at some point, first podcast I didn’t finish.
I agree I actually fast forwarded the middle of this one. As a former soldier I want to say torture is WRONG!!! Yes what they did to the them was torture. We are supposed to be above that.
