Take a look at some of the responses we've had to this article.

    1. From now on I’m not going to trust doctors. I’m only going to trust former actresses for my medical advice. Screw doctors. They aren’t near as knowledgeable as these women who’s career is obviously based on their mental abilities and not their appearance.

No way… Doctors are godlike creatures.

        Worship them…

And take two flu shot, just in case.

Suzanne Somers is so full of shit, she’s unbearable to listen to. Funny how she neglected to mention that the cast of Three’s Company hated her because she demanded to be known as the star. She wanted to be front and center in every photoshoot and get paid MORE than her costars.
Her story of being misdiagnosed last year with cancer was exagerated horseshit. I would like to hear one doctor she saw confirm that story. Adam I wish you were more a jerk sometimes. It would have been far more entertaining to hear you call her out than try to be Mr. Friendly.

couldnt agree more with toe. Give your listeners more credit – we agree with you when you rant on jenny mcarthy. what does being a celebrity have to do with intelligence and trustworthiness on medical issues? nothing! Just hope no idiot listening is tempted to follow suzannes mind numbing advice. Be a skeptic, dont accept doctor first diagnosis, but dont turn to witchcraft. Following link might be useful

I think it’s great to get contrasting opinions on traditional medicine. Everyone has their own personal experiences and traditional medicine isn’t always the answer for a lot of little things. I think what people need to take away from her story is to challenge diagnosis and become your own advocate. Drs are human and can make mistakes too. The best weapon is knowledge. Question the things you don’t understand until you do. If a Dr bullies you or makes you uncomfortable in any way, find another one.

Her knowledge is from other doctors that she’s had to pay for her multiple treatments that you could never afford and she’s passing it onto you for free you whiney fucks.
Great Show! I’ve missed hearing/seeing her over the years. Very funny too. “Like asking Three’s Company for a raise”.

She is not passing it on for free- she is promoting her dangerous book. This is the only reason she has made her self available for shows like this and oprah. If you think it is charity, you are saddly mistaken!

Where’s Dr. Drew or Dr. Bruce?!

She’s so full of it. Modern medicine saved her stupid ass and now all she can do is spout pseudo-science and lies. She had Valley Fever brought on by her stupid “bio-identical” bullshit. She’s the Jenny McCarthy of cancer and I hope someone has the balls to out her as a charlatan and a liar.

Yep. You know it all, Jason. A year or two of pre-med and you truly KNOW ALL THERE IS TO BE KNOWN. End of story—Why? Cuz’ “Jason” says so, that’s why!

Sidenote: Why do all the pimply-faced losers that I come in contact seem to be named “Jason?”

Is it some kind of new law or something?

You need doctor steven novella to be on your show to get accurate information . He host the skeptic guide to the universe. I trust him. Susan summers is not qualified to give medical advice and u would be doing your listeners and I as one of them a disservice. Please. Its very important.

considering how much adam despises crappy tv from the 70s (land of the lost, etc), i’m surprised he didn’t call her out more for dubious contributions to tv history.

i don’t normally comment on shows, but i was so pleasantly surprised by this one, i have to say something.

i didn’t expect much from Suzanne Somers. not to knock her, but i didn’t expect much of a show between her and Ace, but this was a knockout. i don’t know if it was just chemistry, or whatever, but it was great. keep it up Team Ace.

oh, and she’s obviously batshit insane when it comes to her medical beliefs. reminds me of the woman that says AIDS doesn’t exist and that she’ll never take medication for it, because it’s the medicine that kills you. do a quick bit of research and you find that she had a daughter born with HIV (because the woman didn’t take medical precautions that could have prevented her daughter from having HIV). her daughter went on to die from AIDS because the cunt wouldn’t give her the medicine she needed.

I am very surprised that so many people didn’t like this episode. Could we at least take her info with a grain of salt? I mean it is from HER own personal experience and just for the record… Doctors do not know everything and people are misdiagnosed all the time. Just Sayin.. keep an open mind and if you don’t agree you can take two flu shots and get all the chemo you want.
      I found it interesting
This is so far off Adam’s radar, I give him credit for being open to it. Why Not. Thanks Adam for being so diverse in your podcast topics. I totally enjoyed it.

While entertaining, it is also dangerous. While misdiagnosis is a relevant issue in medicine, Somers’ situation was the result of her own actions: withholding information from the physicians.

I appreciate anyone who exposes the truth. Chemotherapy has less than a 1% success rate. It is one of the biggest lies in all of healthcare. Look at all of the money dumped into Cancer research and where has it gotten us? Cancer kills more people today than it did 25 years ago. Thank you Suzanne for standing up to big Pharma, the FDA and as you can see from all the negative comments above, public perception.

Rational Rose – Thank you!!! I was horrified when I saw that the Ace Man would be giving “air” time to this shrill woo-loving idiot. I just hope my blood pressure doesn’t rise too much when I listen to it.

Yeah and I think Dr. Drew and/or Dr. Bruce will give you a bit of grief regarding this.

I enjoyed this podcast. Suzanne has a strong personality and she is an interesting person. Adam really had a great conversation with her. The podcast did lose some of its punch when Suzanne talked about alternative remedies, but when they were talking about other subjects, it was a good show. Suzanne is smart and observant.

Please Adam, check out for Dr. Novella for the opportunity to give the side of the story that is supported by medical and scientific consensus. I know he is not a Hollywood celebrity, but he IS witty, charismatic, and most importantly, knowledgeable on medical related issues.

      Always a fan!! Thanks.

I finally listened to this show. It was a good interview. I actually feel just a wee sorry for Somers because she has been pulled in by snake-oil salesmen and I don’t think there is any way for her to turn around. The doctor she mentioned who is a fan of enimas (Dr. Nicholas Gonzalez) had a study whose results were just now published (4 years later) and the results were devestating for him but more importantly for his patients. Not only were they not cured, but they suffered through his “treatments”. http://www.sciencebasedmedicine.org/?p=1430

Also, the whole “they haven’t cured cancer yet” bit shows a basic misunderstanding of what cancer is. It is many things and many cancers are essentially being cured and many of them with chemo.

Somers is just wrong. Her book will encourage people to seek out these “doctors” whose treatments have no scientific plausibility and cost money without the benefit of insurance coverage. As Orac would say, the irony meter was off the charts when she was complaining about profits that “conventional” treatments make. Those doctors are raking in the dough.
