Getting it on with the classics! It’s week two of our best of the best podcasts, starting with the Inglourius Basterds actor extraordinaire Christoph Waltz. Then the Aceman goes a few podcast rounds with heavyweight champion Mike Tyson.

i think we need another “adam carolla project”. its so good
I just finished watching inglourious basterds, and as soon as I close the screen, this podcast shows up
Tyson is crazy
I agree that the Adam Carolla Project was excellent, and what a lot of people don’t realise is that it predated a lot of the current reality projects by a considerable period of time.
And yeah, another series of some kind is long overdue.
The problem is that Adam’s talents are difficult to pigeonhole, which is a problem for the unimaginative shit-scared morons that pass for television executives these days. If HBO aren’t kissing his ass for something then they need their heads handed to them.
I have a couple of good ideas that I think would work for Adam, so I’m sure that his people do as well.
The problem is that Adam can’t act, read cue cards, or even write. His main talent is improvisation, and he excels at it. Adam’s performance on the podcast is a million times better than his Leno performance, which is weak in my opinion. He should do a game show like “You Bet Your Life”, that was hosted by Groucho Marx. The game aspect was a backdrop, the show itself focused on the contestants. I think his focus on a sitcom is a huge mistake, and his career could greatly benefit from a different direction.
I agree.. I think Adam is great at what he does.. but I just don’t see his sitcom being funny. He excels when he can improvise.. & who the F still watches sitcoms anyways?!?
Adam should get manny or flloyd on the ACP. Got to get it on.
I hate Illinois Nazis!
I’m not a fan of the train wreck, and I puposesly missed Tyson last time. Tell me, am I really missing something special by not overcoming the squimish feeling I get when I think about listening to this cast?
ok, we get it.. you’re NOT prepared to get it on.. FINE! but is it really necessary to broadcast it to everyone?
no you are not missing anything, except the weirdness factor
Waltz was great, Tyson sucked and that guy that was with him promoting the film seemed like a super scumbag.
The marketing was terrible for the Adam Carolla Project.
I remember the TLC ads when it was first on and they featured people doing the “Marco Polo” call back and forth, Adam saying “lets get crack a-lackin’”, and his father playing the bongos. And a clips of Adam saying “we need to play some strong Carolla type ball”.
They didnt not at all convey to a viewer what the show was supposed to be about. At the time I watched a lot of things on TLC so I probably would have been interested if I had any idea what this show was supposed to be. From the commercials it just looked like a crazy mess. So I never bother to check it out.
I have since watch all the episodes on YouTube and it was pretty good show. A little fake at times but interesting if you are a fan of Adam’s. However Adam came off way too Hollywood for it to be a successful mainstream show- Adam would drive up in his sports car, put on his “bags” for about an hour, the yell at everyone and tell them they were lazy idiots who were not getting any work done and then drive off. If you are an Adam fan already you have enough context to know why that is funny. If you are someone just tuning it, it look like a jerk berating hardworking guys and then complaining that he wants to sell a house for a million dollars.
It looks like Adam and his guys gave a decent set of tape to the production company who then cut it in such a way it wouldnt be successful show. Then TLC put together promo packages that were some of the weakest and most misleading I have seen.
In reality Adam’s show should have been at least as successful as Kathy Griffith’s. Its a shame he had so much going on at the times, with the talk show, and Stern that he couldnt have reviewed the marketing approach and asked some hard questions.
If he attempts the show again, teamed with someone like Theresa to soften the overall feel it probably would be a success. Some premise like the “Take Home Handyman” where Adam gets to interact with clueless homeowners would be good.
I don’t want to be accused of bitching because I love the podcast and have listened to every single one. I’m just wondering why they did those 2 for tuesdays for awhile rather than just posting them individually now. That way we’d have new Ace man all the time.
Why did you listen to the 2 for tuesdays all at once instead of hoarding them away so you could have new Ace man all the time?
I agree, thats a good question.
The C Waltz podcast was the only one I listened to again, having just watched Inglourious Basterds, and it was worth hearing for the second time. I agree he was brilliant in his role and deserves the Oscar, but NOT because he speaks in 4 languages. Doesn’t Adam understand that it is common for Europeans to speak multiple languages? Going on and on about how impressed he was by that just made him sound like a retarded American. God forbid he ever watch a foreign movie–he’d be handing out Oscars left and right.
So cool I just watched this movie last night and this guy was so amazing in his part – What a great actor! Thanks for getting him on the air Adam!
I completely agree. I think he stole the show.
Tyson? On the Best-Of podcast?? What in the hell are they thinking! lol When thay say that they are putting out a best of “edit”, they’re really using the word loosly. It’s like bending over, picking up a peice of shit off the floor, giving it to somebody and saying, “Look, this is the “best of” the ground”
I’m pretty sure the floor has more to off than a peice of garbage like the Tyson interview.
i love the jazz soundtrack under Tyson! its silly, yet sophisticated
For anyone who is a huge fan of Quentin Tarantino and his work pertaining to Inglorious Bastards, NPR has an interview/podcast on Fresh Air with him. Its interesting because Tarantino goes into the details of casting Waltz for his role in the film.
Highly recommended interview.
