    Hey Adam,

I think we’d all benefit from seeing the years you owned each vehicle. It’ll help me understand how a carpenter could or couldn’t afford an 850Ci.

I love your style. Be careful with that Sunbeam Tiger though (if you still have it). 2600 lbs of 1966 V8 with a seatbelt. Crazy fun.

    Love the CarCast!

    Dominic -

This is Sandy’s (Aka Professor Ganz’s don’t ask me ask the Weez how that came about) Section. But your suggestion is good, a time line for both of the history and year of the vehicle would be good. I owned the 850ci while contractor of sorts, but it was with software not a hammer like Ace.

Yes the Tiger will be a hand full, and that to me is part of the point of the car, scary CrAzy. I’m guessing it will come in around 2400 lbs when all said and done with a bit more juice then the 260 that is in now. Definitely a work in progress (WIP). Check out the Tiger section for a few more images.

Thanks for posting too, we are just getting the site going and your comments and suggestions are much appreciated!

Sandy (oops did that slip out)

Thanks for going to the effort of helping set all this up Sandy. Looks like it’ll be really entertaining, even for the casual enthusiast like myself. It’s particularly cool that you’ve even taken the time to respond to user comments.

    Dave -

Since I’m messin’ with the site I can always take some time to do some comments. More coming we just are getting started with this so as you can expect it will get better!

I always hear horror stories about 8-series maintenance. Was it a money pit? I bet it was tons of fun to drive.

  7. CarCast says:

I didn’t have much problems with the 850ci, ‘Gretta’ was very nice to me in that respect. The car had one under warranty visit and that was for a squeak in the steering wheel related to the contact plate for the air bag (gets the electrical through it). The 750iL was not quite so nice. I had a throttle servo go out and that was $1200 along with a few other things, but overall not too bad for a V12 and all the stuff that comes with it. I would love to get another 850 they are inexpensive now, just no room to keep it.

    That is a sweet-looking 323i Alpina!

    Do you still own it?

  9. CarCast says:

No, it was sold a number of years back as I became too hard to register due to some issues the way it was imported. The car shown was not the one I owned but it was very similar. It ran hard for a small 2.5 and it was floored every day I drove it and it was a fun driving car.

    • CarCast says:

      Hey Will -

Glad to hear from you! I still have both of my old Pinarillo’s. Have not ridden them in a long while but I should get my fat ass going. I’ll hit you with an email off line, but great to here from you!

  11. Mike says:

Sandy, with the pontiac brand going away, is the Pontiac Solstice collectible? Seriously, 260hp turbo coupe from GM might have some value in the future.

    • CarCast says:

      Mike -

Hard to say. I’m not at all a fan of the Solstice, just stylewise not my thing. I think the Saturn version is a bit better style but I’ll be they will have some value down the road as they are not very many out I’ll guess. Nothing like the Judge or Trans Am’s but might have something.

    Hey Sandy,

Just to kiss a little bit of ass, I’m a big fan of both podacsts.

Heard the Skype(sp?) call about the 95 Rx7, and you both were a little light on the Rx knowledge(which is fine- not like you aren’t balls-deep in all the other shit you’ve got going on!), so how about taking the CarCast to SevenStock next year? Would be cool to get some info from some of the bigger rotary builders and enthusiasts. My first car was(I still have it) a 73 Rx2 2 door. I blew away many a 5.0 back when they were the new kid on the block, and man, did those guys get pissed. Especially when I told them I only had 70 cubic inches (was a streetported 12a with a sidedraft and header, w/factory electronic ignition from a 1st gen Rx7). I am the guy that makes Adam want to kick his dad in the nuts- I have a 3000 sq. ft. shop, 2 post lift, tools, equipment, etc, and am currently going through a 71 2 door 510 with my 16 year old son. Sorry Ace- I didn’t have any of this shit either, so I am compensating.

I agree with your comments about the rotary cars being problematic- I swapped/rebuilt MANY engines over the years. But, when you’ve got one dialed in- Look out.

BTW- 3rd gen twin turbo cars were sequential- 1 for lower revs, the other to come on at around 4500 rpm. Better be ready for it, and try not to be mid corner accelerating at that rpm, or you are going to be looking the opposite direction.

Again- BIG fan. Listened to Carolla right when he came on Loveline in the mid 90’s, and have followed him since. Just donated $100 to Bald Brian’s fund, and am pulling for him. The recent news is awesome.

Thanks for all you guys are doing- It is really appreciated and entertaining.

      Hey Darryl -

Didn’t catch this message until now. But yeah everyone is light on rotary shit these days ;) I like the rx2 and rx3 (Remind me a bit like the Datsun 610’s). I think after I finish the 20 other projects on the list I would like to get a ‘compact’ car for the track, something like a Datsun, or RX2 or and RX3. I like the odd style and they do look hot in raced up trim.

Also thanks for supporting Bald Brian he is a good guy and glad people are helping out.

Hopefully we can find some locals with some rotary motors to bring in, I think I know of a local shop in the valley that might have some good stuff…

    Hi Sandy,
You must be a busy fella, whats happened with that 40? hasnt been bleached away by the sun!

    regards
    Jac Mac

    • CarCast says:

Hey Mr. Mac! It is in the garage behind the Sunbeam Tiger. It is on the list after the Mustang. I have too much to do on all the cars and no time or anyone to help. Hopefully can start back soon on it. I have a ton of crap to do. You must have the vibe as I just filled all the tires up with air again just last night! We had a feature on it but the audio got screwed and we will have to re-shoot. I need to make it back to work on it…

      Sandy

      • Jac Mac says:

Ha Ha, at least your making more progress than me! If I could only get the hands to make/build all this stuff at the same rate that ideas get out of my head. Glad nobody is making a video of my average day!!!!!

        cheers
        Jac Mac
