Ganz Hacking Willow Springs
A few videos of the Ripper at Willow Springs. Some events with the Los Angeles Shelby Club, Cobra Club, and Various others.
Remember I never said I could drive
If you want to see many more videos of ‘The Ripper’ Head over to the Motorator and do a search for “The Ripper”
This is an older video (2005) of the Ripper at with the L.A. Shelby Club at the 2 day Streets of Willow open track event. They have a nice group of cars and the Ripper always has a good time hammering on the tight track.

The roar of the motor is great. Nice driving “Ripper.”
Thanks! More videos coming as soon as the motor get back in the car
Lot’s of fun, the sound of that V8 is inspiring.
Obviously there’s a fair amount of power available in the Ripper, however what are you running track tires and does the beast have disc brakes? I only ask because you seemed to slow a little early on the long straight.
Running Kumho Victor Racers v700 on the car. Brakes are not the problem, Superlite 6’s in front on big rotors. It’s the guy behind the wheel. The one thing about the small track that gets me is the car gets unsettled a bit after the straight the little right before the top of the hill. When I have carried more speed it gets unsettled but this is an earlier video (2005), and I’m slightly better about conquering the fear
The main problem is being inconsistent lap after lap but that’s just lack of discipline when all said and done. To be honest if I worried too much about getting really good it would seem like work and what fun would that be!
The car sounds amazing, but that track is horrible. It is way too small and slow.
I like both tracks at Willow, the Streets are small and tight and more arm work then anything, but a lot of fun as you can push the car around with the gas pedal. The big track is much more suited to the car. Still fun where ever you can get it out to even if Bob’s Big Boy for a Friday night car show…
Yeah…I would love to see a video where you can stretch that things legs. I bet that is amazing and scary
I used to track my Datsun 260Z. I had triple dellorto carbs, a bigger cam, exhaust etc. There are few things that are so much fun and it is addictive!!!
The video is up at the Motorator

Speed Ventures 2008 and blown engine…
Ah…Thats more like it. That looks like so much fun in that car!
Hey Ganz,
Love the video and the video link. The sound of that car makes my heart pound a little harder. I agree with Mark that music to the video would ruin the whole thing. A little commentary before or after would be great, although I didn’t (easier said than done I know).
Keep up the good work
Cheers
sorry…. although I didn’t watch the whole video of the link…..
great video, and glad you didn’t try to put any music to it
like you see in so many youtube clips.
any more about info about the Mustang?
it’s caged I guess but what else…
you mentioned race tires.
Ohh I found a page on the site that has all the details I coulda wanted

what a great car.
Thanks Mark. I think if I didn’t have to work on all the CarCast and ACP stuff these days I would have the motor back in the car. It’s sitting in Adam’s warehouse next to the Tiger motor, both longing to be dumped in a car
Some of the background on the car is up on my ugly website at http://www.gtsparkplugs.com

Thats a sweet sounding motor you got there. I love the show and download it as much as possible, keep up the great work for us “gearheads”
Wow those look like some fun runs there. Watching this makes me want a track car even more. I can’t believe your car is street legal! What kind of dash is that? Looks much better than the one with the humps in it. Hey if you need a hard with that engine just let me know.
It’s what’s under the ‘Eyebrows’ on the mustang. WAY nicer looking IMO. All you have to do is grind off the mounts for the foam dash, a little bondo, some BBQ black paint and you have the R-Model dash.
According to what I saw in this video….. the car would be more settled if you kept it one gear higher, and let the torque take you out of the corners, and you will not have to worry about shifting or holding the revs near red-line before the next corner.
Just my 2 cents!
)
Great sounding engine though! I wish mine sounded that good.

I think I need to get you in the car for some tips! The big problem is that I really have too much fun driving and forget to try to work on some technique that will make me a better drive. Working on the car now, and solving some of the RPM problem my moving the red line up a bit and fixing the gear box so I can find a gear without fighting the box. All that said, I need to learn to drive
Sandy
Anytime we happen to be at the same track, I would be more than happy to give you a few tips!
Typically in Sep, are the NASA nationals at Miller Motorsports Park in Salt Lake City. I hope to make it out there this year, but definitely next year (it’s in the budget); I’m coming from New Joisey, so it’s a bit of a hike.
Keep up the great podcasts!

Oh and here are some really good articles on car setup, and other theories. The gear ratio write up was very informative for me, since I never thought much about the individual gear ratios for each track (I am not allowed my ratios though, due to NASA regulations for my class, only ring and pinion.).
