Going to totally DVR The Real L Word now. Great job, Lynette! You are becoming a real pro at this!!!

Teresa is needed. GET BACK ON ALREADY!!!

  6. JC 30 July 2010 at 1:02 pm #

Hi Lynette! Great show, very informative, you’re getting more fluid and confident with your presentation every show. Hottest pair of mommies in podcast history, btw. Later.

Oh, I loved Susanna and then it hit the wall with homeopathy. Nooooo! Homeopathic medicine is purified WATER. Study after study after study has shown that it has no effect other than the placebo effect. There is no scientific basis to it whatsoever. You are so smart Susanna! Don’t waste your money on this scam. You don’t even need to read the studies, just read the Wikipedia page. Once you actually realize what it is, you won’t be able to believe they pass if off as medicine.

Susanna was an awesome guest. She is smart, funny, honest and graceful. By the end, I thought that you two had known each other a very long time. If Teresa can’t come back you should see if Susanna will co-host.

  9. Kimberly Fuller 29 July 2010 at 4:47 pm #

BEST TPE so far… Great guest. Susanna should come back and visit often. She’s my new hero!!!
Thank you TPE as I might never have found this great lady. I loved when she told us to find ‘mothering’ for ourselves and when she said there is no need for negative comments
‘we already had mothers.’ GOD BLESS YOU Susanna I think those very things all the time.

I love this show, and this episode in particular!! Susanna was a great guest and I found myself laughing out loud at work on several occasions. She can come back anytime. And Lynette, you are doing a great job on your own! :) Keep up the good work! And remember, just because we miss T doesn’t mean we have to vent about in on all the comment boards. Give Lynette some props for going out on her own!

    • Lipstick 30 July 2010 at 12:26 pm #

      Yes!

  11. Marie 29 July 2010 at 8:07 am #

It was Teresa who begged Lynette to do this podcast in the first place. This was when she was not doing Adam’s podcast daily or even occasionally. Now, it really isn’t fair Lynette’s left holding the bag. But,IMO she is doing just fine and if she decides to close up shop that’s okay too.

  12. nicki 29 July 2010 at 7:49 am #

and Lynette- you are doing great! You’re so open and accepting of all the guests- no matter how wacky. Keep it up!

  13. nicki 29 July 2010 at 7:43 am #

I loved the original TPE- it basically helped me get through the first 2 months of motherhood without completely cracking. I miss Teresa on this show- as I sort of went through pregnancy, birth and beyond listening to her and reading her blog. I sure hope she comes back for some parenting podcasts- but I thought Susanna was great and would love to hear more of her too!
Can’t wait for T’s book! anyone know when it comes out?

  14. Christina 29 July 2010 at 6:51 am #

Great job, I loved Susanna and the chemistry was really good between she and Lynette. I miss T and hope she comes back, but Lynette you are improving so much! Keep it up, whatever the host configuration is/becomes!

  15. Janel 29 July 2010 at 5:53 am #

This was great to listen to, nice chemistry. I’d never heard of Susanna Brisk, will have to check out her stuff. You are doing a great job Lynette!

  16. Amommyof2 27 July 2010 at 9:54 pm #

I also really enjoyed Susanna and this podcast in general. I found her to be very witty and entertaining. I actually felt like she was in my head. As a mother of two (1 & 3) I often have moments of wanting to escape or run away. I think it is something that is not talked about enough. I love Teresa but if she can’t be on anymore I would love to hear Susanna every week.

I also agree that the guest last week (Melora Hardin) was so full of herself and annoying as hell. Please, no more like her. As for future shows, I love the experts but also just the day to day stories about kids and what they do and what it is like to be a mom.

Lynette, you’re doing a great job! Your interviewing skills have improved tremendously in such a short time. You sound like a pro!

  17. Mary 27 July 2010 at 8:35 pm #

I must admit I do really miss Teresa…I agree with the person who said that its just because she gets more airtime on this show than on the other.

Lynette, you are doing a great job, its just the combo of the two of you is so great…you keep a lid on Teresa getting too neurotic and Teresa gets you to admit your bad mommy moments we all share (take me…I let my baby watch the bachelorette with me last night til 10 pm…he seemed to enjoy it.)

I also have to agree with whomever said that they prefer the parenting experts, or at least people in the field with special knowledge, as opposed to simply famous people with kids- unless its someone like “Blossom” who really had a unique perspective to share. I loved the sleep lady, and Dr. Bruce, and other people I can learn from as a new mommy.

One last thing, the classic line I always used with my preschoolers:
“My ears don’t understand whining, just big girl (boy) words.”
    then if they keep whining…
say very sweetly, “gosh, I’m so sorry but I just can’t understand you.”

It really works and has the added benefit of driving the whining kid CRAZY for a minute which is kinda fun.

  18. Carl 27 July 2010 at 8:30 pm #

    Best TPE so far!

  19. Susanna Brisk 27 July 2010 at 8:28 pm #

Hey Ladies and Gents, thanks for all the props! I had a great chemistry with Lynette, she is extremely funny, real and easy to talk to. As for CPA, firstly how about using your real name? Secondly, the “material” about toddlers being difficult was not “material” but my own life experience about which I wrote a one person show (Mamafied) and a book of the same name. What I said on the show was completely improvised, made up right then and there on Lynette’s orange couch and not based on anyone’s story but my own. Having toddlers also inspired six different “Mom” themed short films (you can watch and criticize them on http://www.youtube.com/mamafied.) Are you a parent? Have you ever spent time with two kids less than a year apart without having to resort to bingeing on sugar after the kids go to bed, alcohol or psychotropic drugs? I tried to stay conscious through parenting, so no Chardonnay during “the witching hour,” much as some of my friends swear by it as a coping skill. Please share your experiences!! You don’t have to agree with me, I would love to hear how you’ve done it.

    • MC White 2 August 2010 at 10:48 pm #

Wow! You were awesome Susanna! I do too miss T, but so what? As long as you’re getting the job done, major props to Lynette and Susanna both! I think it’s therapuetic to be able to bitch about mommyhood and more power to S (her new nickname.) I hope she comes back and she can discuss masturbation over the Real L Word, anytime, I loved it!!! Sorry, I’m a dude, we’re wired differently, ladies. Peace!

  20. Mal 27 July 2010 at 7:59 pm #

    doing a great job Adam’s wife :)

  21. CPA 27 July 2010 at 6:42 pm #

Lynette you are doing great but this show simply isn’t as good without Teresa. Couldn’t disagree more with most of the comments about Susanna. She was terrible! riding that same joke about how she hated being a Mom to toddlers. OK, got it… Unoriginal material. 2 dud guests in a row.

  22. evel 27 July 2010 at 5:50 pm #

Susanna is my favorite guest so far. Glad to know there are others that feel like I do about motherhood. Love my child, hate the job.

Lynette, you’re doing a great job!

  23. SWMom 27 July 2010 at 12:16 pm #

Vettey, I think Susanna would make a wonderful co-host. She was funny without running over the top of Lynette. Ladies, thoughts?

  24. Vettey 27 July 2010 at 11:37 am #

Great guest this week! I am not gonna lie, I do miss Teresa, but Susanna would be a worthy replacement, don’t you all think? ;-)

  25. linnette 27 July 2010 at 9:33 am #

    Yeah! Loved this!

  26. Sheila 27 July 2010 at 9:26 am #

    Hey all TPE fans !

I agree with guest Susanna’s post ! TPE started out as a straight up collaboration between T & L – but situations evolve. After TPE was launched, Adam decided to put the band back together from the old terrestrial radio gig, T was an integral part of that mix. She’s got a full-time gig now (motherhood) and it is probably unreasonable to require her to have multiple part-time gigs solely for our enjoyment. Lynette has blossomed in her role, combine that with good guests who aren’t there for shameless self-promotion (not necessary to name names, regular listeners know who that applies to), make for a great podcast. So less egomaniac “actresses” who are booked only to sell themselves, and keep the childcare experts, medical folk and oh please please parents like Susanna who love their kids, but didn’t have their sense of humor removed with the placenta. Anyone who needs a T fix can get it by listening to the ACP, and I’m sure that T-Bone will come by from time to time to see the project she helped “birth” in podcast land.

  27. Leesa 27 July 2010 at 6:41 am #

God bless this woman! As a single mom of a toddler, I totally relate. I LOVE my daughter, but could definitely use a maternal hiatus. Thanks for keeping it real.

  28. Lipstick 26 July 2010 at 9:10 pm #

Loved this show. The guest was smart and funny, made me wish they were my friends too. Great job Lynette, who needs that Teresa anyway.

  29. Lisa 26 July 2010 at 8:57 pm #

Good episode! Lynette, you’re doing a great job. This guest was much more interesting than last week’s.

  30. Ron 26 July 2010 at 3:20 pm #

    Teresa….. Where are you!!!!!!?

    Keep on, keeping on girls!

  31. ranchera 26 July 2010 at 3:13 pm #

Lynette Rocks and this Susanna was funny. Get it on girls.

  32. Susanna Brisk 26 July 2010 at 2:01 pm #

Wow! TPE fans loved Teresa like chicks getting over a bad boyfriend. I know you loved him (her) but he (she) has left for greener pastures. Here you have a beautiful woman just ready to embrace you (Lynette) not to mention a stunning co-host (you know who) and you’re focussed on what you can’t have… Please have a seance, do a cleanse, get sone therapy and release the beautiful Teresa to pursue her own path. She still loves you, promise. Thanks for the whining tip and as for the Dude, next time we shall discuss Shakespeare (Hamlet and his mom for example) instead of pop culture. I wasn’t aware that we had to keep things literate. Thanks for listening guys!!!

    • SJ 29 July 2010 at 6:31 am #

I enjoyed this episode, it was a big improvement from the past few shows.

@Susanna- if this is really you commenting about the fans needing to get over T, it’s really tacky. We fans love T and Lynette and it’s still unclear if/when T is coming back (unless I missed some announcement). Either way coming on the message board and practically mocking those that are expressing their sadness over T really sucks. If you’re the new cohost that’s fine but your comment seems really insecure.

      • ChristiM 3 August 2010 at 1:52 pm #

I agree with Susanna’s comment. Lynette is awesome, and handles the show just fine on her own and with guest co-hosts. Btw, I loved the discussion regarding the New L Word. Having someone on from that show would be great!

        • Robin 4 August 2010 at 11:34 am #

          I agree with SJ

The question isn’t whether or not Lynette does a good job by herself (of course she does, I LOVE Lynette) it’s whether some person should come to the comment board and tell people to get over Teresa… in a way that is quite rude. It’s like this Susanna chick is jealous of Teresa because the fans ask about her.

By the way, is Teresa coming back?! I haven’t heard or seen any official announcement and perhaps it would help to know one way or another.

  33. mary 26 July 2010 at 1:36 pm #

Great episode, my favorite in a while.

I ended up one of those annoying people without tv when I moved and could barely afford my house payment let alone cable- AND I love the reports from reality tv- Lynette, don’t let the snobs keep you from talking about the shows!

  34. Rehsa 26 July 2010 at 1:23 pm #

Is Teresa ever going to be back on the show? Did I miss some sort of announcement about this? I don’t listen to the shows without Teresa, so I’m afraid I missed something. Can someone please let me know what’s going on!?

  35. Dutch 26 July 2010 at 12:55 pm #

    I really miss T.

  36. TS 26 July 2010 at 12:44 pm #

    Getting better! Great episode!

  37. Ericka Luba 26 July 2010 at 10:16 am #

In regards to whining one things that works with my sister and I with the a 5 year old girl and 6 year old boy is to consistently tell them when they are whining that we can only understand words and can not understand whining. So if they have something they want for us to think about to present it with words. It is fabulous!

  38. Aaron 26 July 2010 at 9:48 am #

Lynette, you get better and better every week.keep on getting it on. I miss T on this show though. Not because the show needs her, but because she shines more on this show than on ACS.

  39. The Dude 26 July 2010 at 8:30 am #

Please don’t talk anymore about those horrible “reality” T.V.! This why these stupid shows are still around! It is real sad! Disappointed in this show. Bring Back Theresa! If the REAL L word is on the show I think I will no longer be listening! This is the PARENT Experiment not crappie TV show experiment!

    • lucylo 26 July 2010 at 2:22 pm #

The reason to have the Real L Word on the show would be to talk about a lesbian mom w/ 3 kids. Just because she’s gay doesn’t mean she’s not a parent! Would be an interesting topic to hear about the additional issues (if any) in a gay household. Regarding reality TV, seems like they only talked about it for 10 min, so what’s the gripe?

      • Sara 27 July 2010 at 5:46 am #

I agree. Having a lesbian mom on the show would make for an interesting topic. Personally, I don’t mind you chatting about reality TV for a little while, but I think it is good to try to stay on topic for the majority of the show. Lynette, you are doing better and better every week. However, you and Teresa as a team works better. Keep up the good work!

  40. Susan In L.A. 26 July 2010 at 7:41 am #

I love Lynette, but this show still needs T.

    • Mr. E 2 August 2010 at 8:25 am #
